Lindum Park n Ride Expansion
04 October 2022
Queensland Rail is upgrading Lindum station to improve accessibility and make it easier and safer for customers.
This week, construction commenced expanding the North Road Park n Ride facility, to add an additional 30 parking spaces to the existing carpark.
These works are part of Queensland Rail's Station Accessibility Upgrade Program which focuses on upgrading station infrastructure to provide easier access to the public transport system.
Station accessibility upgrades are achieved through the delivery of accessible station entrances and pathways to the assisted boarding points, platform raising works, upgraded accessible parking, and by providing essential station and customer facilities including accessible toilets.
These upgrades will significantly improve access for all customers, particularly people with disability, older people, people travelling with prams or luggage, and people recovering from injury.
The accessibility upgrade will feature a range of improvements, including:
- a new pedestrian footbridge with lift access
- full-length raised platforms and extended platform shelters
- upgraded hearing loops and tactile platform surfaces
- upgraded security cameras and lighting throughout the station
- new wayfinding and platform signage.
It is one of several improvements to the Lindum station precinct at Wynnum West.
The Australian and Queensland governments, together with Brisbane City Council, are working to prioritise critical level crossing, station and park 'n' ride upgrades.
$85.4 million Australian Government: $85 million for upgrades (including $10 million level crossing intersection upgrade) and $400,000 for planning.
$45.0 million Queensland Government: $39.5 million for station and park ‘n’ ride upgrades, $5 million for intersection upgrades and $482,000 for planning.
$45.3 million Brisbane City Council: $40 million for future separation of the road from the rail line, $5 million for intersection upgrades and $300,000 for planning.
